The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and the Ministry of Commerce in Thailand have initiated key discussions aimed at strengthening the country’s digital platform ecosystem. The meeting reflects the government’s growing focus on ensuring that digital businesses operate in a fair, transparent, and consumer-friendly environment.
The discussions took place on April 22, 2026, and were led by Chaiyanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, along with Nan Bunthida Somchai. They met with Supajee Suthamphan, who also serves as the Minister of Commerce, to align strategies related to digital platform governance.
During the meeting, both ministries discussed the need to restructure digital platform services to create a balanced system that benefits both service providers and consumers. The goal is to ensure fair competition while protecting user rights in the rapidly expanding digital marketplace.
A major focus of the discussion was on improving product quality verification across digital platforms. Authorities emphasized the importance of building trust among consumers by ensuring that products sold online meet proper standards and are accurately represented.
The meeting also highlighted the role of regulatory frameworks in adapting to the fast-changing digital economy. Officials explored ways to strengthen oversight mechanisms without hindering innovation and business growth within the sector.
Representatives from the Electronic Transactions Development Agency and other relevant agencies participated in the discussions, contributing technical expertise and policy insights to support the initiative.
These efforts signal Thailand’s commitment to building a robust digital economy by promoting transparency, accountability, and sustainable growth in digital platform services.
