Thailand Builds Islamic Education Peace Network

Thailand Builds Islamic Education Peace Network

Post by : Shakul

A significant initiative has been launched in Bangkok as the Ministry of Defence works to strengthen peace efforts in the country’s southern border provinces. The government is focusing on building networks of Islamic religious educators to promote long-term trust and cooperation.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including representatives from the Ministry of Defence, Internal Security Operations Command, and National Security Council. The session also included leaders from Islamic educational networks in the southern region, highlighting the importance of collaboration between government and community institutions.

Officials emphasized that education plays a key role in reducing conflict and building lasting peace. By working closely with Islamic schools, including private institutions, pondok, and tadika systems, the government aims to support youth development in both moral and social aspects.

The initiative is based on the principle of “Understanding, Accessing, and Developing,” which focuses on respecting local identity, culture, and traditions. Authorities believe that this approach will help create genuine trust between the government and local communities.

The discussion also focused on creating better opportunities for young people. Officials stressed the need to reduce inequality and ensure access to quality education, which can help prevent conflict and promote unity in the region.

Another key goal is to strengthen what officials described as “intellectual resilience” among youth. This includes helping them deal with misinformation and encouraging peaceful coexistence in a multicultural society.

The government has also highlighted its commitment to non-interference and respect for human rights. Officials stated that cooperation, transparency, and respect for dignity are essential elements in achieving sustainable peace.

Security and development efforts will continue together, ensuring that both safety and progress are addressed at the same time. Authorities believe that this balanced approach is necessary for long-term stability in the region.

The Ministry of Defence expressed confidence that peace in the southern provinces can only be achieved through strong cooperation among all sectors. The initiative is expected to play a vital role in shaping a peaceful and inclusive future.
