Abu Dhabi recently welcomed the inaugural TIME100 Impact Awards, celebrating individuals who have made remarkable contributions across various fields. The prestigious event occurred on Saadiyat Island, featuring notable attendees such as Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, and TIME CEO Jessica Sibley, alongside industry luminaries. Honorees included Alexis Ohanian, co-Founder of Reddit and Founder of Seven Seven Six and Athlos; Jamie Salter, CEO of Authentic Brands Group (ABG); Kate Kallot, Founder & CEO of Amini Tech; and Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing.
Dr. Al Zeyoudi commended the awardees for their remarkable achievements, highlighting how their endeavors embody the vibrant sectors of technology, commerce, science, and societal advancements. He pointed out that the UAE serves as an exceptional platform for showcasing innovations that foster economic growth and inclusive opportunities for all. Each recipient provided valuable perspectives on leadership challenges, innovation’s role, and the significance of perseverance in achieving success.
Alexis Ohanian underlined the importance of identifying new prospects, particularly in women’s sports, which he views as a burgeoning business arena. Meanwhile, Kate Kallot discussed the establishment of an AI ecosystem to aid smallholder farmers and the Global South. Zak Brown elaborated on the necessity of constructing high-performing teams in Formula One, while Jamie Salter emphasized that risk-taking is crucial for developing a $32 billion global brand. Each winner expressed gratitude towards TIME, sponsors Capital.com and NMDC Group, and the UAE for their support of their visions and accomplishments.
