Tourism Minister Joins Royal Candlelight Ceremony

Tourism Minister Joins Royal Candlelight Ceremony

Post by : Shakul

Thailand's Minister of Tourism and Sports, Surasak Panjaroenvorakul, led a delegation of ministry executives, civil servants, and staff members in a royal tribute and candlelight ceremony held in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. The event marked the auspicious celebration of the Queen’s fourth-cycle birthday anniversary and brought together senior government officials and representatives from multiple agencies.

The ceremony took place at Sanam Luang, one of Thailand’s most significant ceremonial grounds. Government officials, members of the Cabinet, and representatives from state institutions gathered to express their loyalty and gratitude through traditional royal tribute activities.

During the evening event, participants assembled at the ceremonial venue before joining the official proceedings led by Anutin Charnvirakul. The ceremony included the presentation of gold and silver floral tributes before the royal portrait, followed by a candle-lighting event and the singing of the Royal Anthem.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Surasak emphasized the enduring contributions of Queen Sirikit to Thailand’s cultural development. He noted that Her Majesty has played a vital role in preserving and promoting traditional Thai textiles and handicrafts, which continue to serve as valuable cultural assets and symbols of national identity.

According to the minister, these royal initiatives have significantly contributed to strengthening Thailand’s international cultural presence and have become an important component of the country's soft power strategy. Traditional crafts, community products, and local wisdom are increasingly being showcased to global audiences through tourism and cultural exchange programs.

The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has continued to incorporate royal development principles into its policies by supporting community-based tourism and cultural tourism projects. These initiatives aim to generate income for local communities, preserve cultural traditions, and enhance Thailand’s reputation as a leading cultural tourism destination.

Earlier in the day, Seksan Ngaosuwan represented the ministry at a separate floral tribute ceremony. Officials stated that the events reflected national appreciation for Queen Sirikit’s lifelong dedication to cultural preservation, social development, and the promotion of Thailand’s heritage on the international stage.
