Turkmen Athletes Win 301 Medals in Five Months of 2026

Turkmen Athletes Win 301 Medals in Five Months of 2026

Post by : Shakul

Turkmenistan's athletes have delivered an impressive performance on the international stage during the first five months of 2026, winning a total of 301 medals across various sporting competitions. The achievement reflects the country's continued commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure, nurturing talent, and promoting healthy lifestyles among young people.

The latest figures were presented during a government meeting reviewing Turkmenistan's socio-economic progress from January to May 2026. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Mammedov reported that national athletes continued to excel in international tournaments, bringing recognition and pride to the country through their outstanding performances.

According to the report, Turkmen athletes secured 132 medals in May alone, making it one of the most successful months of the year. These achievements significantly boosted the country's overall medal tally, which reached 301 medals by the end of the five-month period.

The strong results have been attributed to ongoing efforts aimed at developing physical education, improving sports facilities, and preparing professional athletes capable of competing at the highest levels. Authorities have also continued implementing programs designed to identify and support promising young sports talents across the country.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov praised the achievements of the athletes and emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum in the fields of sports, education, science, and healthcare. He noted that developing well-rounded citizens requires continuous investment in both intellectual and physical growth.

The President also stressed the need to encourage talented young people to engage with science, technology, education, and sports. He called for stronger initiatives that inspire the younger generation to pursue excellence while contributing to the country's long-term development goals.

With more international competitions scheduled throughout the year, Turkmenistan's sporting community hopes to build on its current success. The growing medal count demonstrates the effectiveness of national sports programs and signals the country's ambition to achieve even greater recognition in global sporting events.
