Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, National Leader of Turkmenistan and Chairman of the People's Council, met with Alexander Van der Bellen during his official visit to Austria, marking an important step in strengthening bilateral relations.
The meeting began with a formal welcome and an official photo session in front of the national flags of both countries. President Alexander Van der Bellen warmly welcomed the Turkmen leader and expressed appreciation for accepting the invitation.
During the talks, Berdimuhamedow conveyed greetings from President Serdar Berdimuhamedow and emphasized the importance of the visit in enhancing political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation between the two nations.
Both leaders highlighted their shared commitment to peace and neutrality, noting that Turkmenistan and Austria celebrate similar milestones related to their neutral status. They stressed that global conflicts should be resolved through political and diplomatic means.
The discussions also focused on expanding trade and economic cooperation, with particular attention to sectors such as green energy, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and urban development. Both sides agreed to strengthen collaboration and utilize existing opportunities.
Humanitarian and educational ties were also emphasized, including academic exchanges and cooperation between universities. Cultural initiatives, such as joint concerts and events, continue to strengthen people-to-people connections.
The meeting concluded with an invitation from the Turkmen leader for the Austrian President to visit Ashgabat, reaffirming both countries’ commitment to long-term, mutually beneficial cooperation.
