The UAE and Kazakhstan have taken a significant stride forward in their enduring partnership with the tenth session of the UAE-Kazakhstan Joint Committee in Astana, co-chaired by Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei and Zhaslan Madiyev. This meeting injected a fresh sense of urgency into their cooperation in pivotal sectors, as the two nations assessed progress and set future priorities.
Discussions spanned multiple fields including investment, finance, international relations, transport, healthcare, space exploration, artificial intelligence, and energy. Officials highlighted a remarkable increase in economic interactions, with non-oil trade projected to hit USD 5.6 billion in 2024—illustrating the growing scope of joint ventures and enhanced investor confidence.
The UAE delegation recalled the impactful visit of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Astana in May 2025, which opened new pathways for collaboration in innovation, sustainability, and long-term economic growth. The Astana discussions were aimed at translating this momentum into actionable strategies that foster shared growth.
The meeting concluded with the signing of official minutes, reaffirming the commitment of both countries to translate their agreed priorities into tangible results. In addition to the main assembly, Al Mazrouei conducted a roundtable with Renat Bekturov, Governor of the Astana International Financial Centre, to evaluate current projects and pinpoint new collaboration opportunities among government institutions and private sector participants.
Both delegations emphasized the importance of closely tracking the implementation of ongoing initiatives, while promoting stronger connections between small and medium-sized enterprises. This approach, they noted, would help facilitate deeper economic integration and create diverse avenues for partnership.
Additionally, Al Mazrouei led the sixth session of political discussions with Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev. The two leaders shared perspectives on bilateral relations and discussed regional and international developments. Further meetings took place with Kazakhstan’s transport and energy ministers to explore new logistics, shipping corridors, and major energy undertakings.
Conversations during the Astana meeting highlighted the continuous strengthening of ties between the UAE and Kazakhstan, setting the groundwork for expanded cooperation and new economic prospects in the coming years.
