The United Arab Emirates greeted the dawn of 2026 with breathtaking celebrations featuring stunning fireworks and a grand drone showcase across multiple emirates. These festivities, marked by several attempts to set Guinness World Records, reflect the UAE's commitment to creativity and grandeur.
Among the highlights was an impressive drone performance that involved around 6,500 drones over a 20-minute period. This meticulously synchronized display, accompanied by music and fireworks, created the 'largest aerial display of a phoenix' right as the countdown to 2026 began, captivating spectators and solidifying the UAE's standing as a leader in world-class New Year celebrations.
In Ras Al Khaimah, the emirate made history by securing a Guinness World Records title for the largest aerial phoenix created by multirotor drones. The 15-minute spectacle elegantly extended along the coastline, from Al Marjan Island to Al Hamra Island, reflecting the region's tradition of magnificent year-end events.
Abu Dhabi played host to a major venue for New Year celebrations during the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba, where event organizers aimed for five Guinness World Records throughout the night. The festivities officially began at 8:00 pm, culminating in a remarkable 62-minute continuous fireworks display that lit up the sky well into the new year.
Dubai's celebrations were equally expansive, featuring 48 unique firework displays at 40 prominent locations, including iconic sites like Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Atlantis The Palm, Global Village, Expo City Dubai, and Hatta.
Sharjah added to the national celebrations with synchronized 10-minute firework displays at Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Heera Beach, and Khorfakkan Beach, enhancing the vibrant festive atmosphere across the UAE.
These extraordinary celebrations and record-setting achievements further illustrate the UAE's dedication to cultural excellence and innovation, setting an inspiring tone for the year ahead.
