In Al Khatm, Abu Dhabi, the Butheeb International Endurance Village is set to host the UAE President’s Endurance Cup, one of the nation's premier equestrian events. Spanning four days from Thursday to Sunday, it has garnered significant interest from horse owners, riders, and equestrian enthusiasts throughout the UAE.
The tournament features four endurance races catering to various rider categories. Three races—the Private Owners race, the Ladies race, and the Giants Cup—each span a distance of 100 kilometres, while an additional open endurance race extends up to 120 kilometres, challenging seasoned competitors.
Organized by the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation (UAEERF), this year’s participation includes many stables from across the nation, reflecting the burgeoning popularity of endurance riding and the firm support for equestrian sports at the national level.
Preparations were thorough prior to the event, including mandatory veterinary inspections for horses entering the Private Owners race to ensure their well-being. Riders were weighed and final entries confirmed to adhere to competition rules and international standards.
Major General Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, President of the UAEERF, emphasized the significance of the UAE President’s Endurance Cup for everyone involved in the sport. He highlighted that the event symbolizes the country’s appreciation and loyalty to its leadership for their unwavering support of athletes and sports development.
This endurance racing event illustrates the UAE’s profound cultural bond with horses and underscores the nation’s dedication to promoting equestrian sports. The championship not only motivates riders but also reinforces the UAE’s stature as a global center for endurance racing.
