High-level talks between the United States and Iran about Iran’s nuclear program will start again this Sunday in Oman. This will be the sixth round of these talks since April. The goal is to make a new agreement after the old one was canceled a few years ago.
The talks are happening even though there is a lot of tension in the region. The US is still planning to join the talks. Iran’s foreign minister said that former US President Trump does not want Iran to have nuclear weapons, and he also said that any new deal should not allow Iran to make enriched uranium. However, Iran hopes to keep its nuclear program for peaceful reasons and says it will let the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) supervise everything to make sure it is safe and peaceful.
Both sides think it is possible to reach an agreement soon, so Iran can continue its nuclear work peacefully.
