India’s young batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered a breathtaking performance in Dubai, announcing his arrival on the big stage with a powerful innings that left cricket fans in awe. The 14-year-old opener played a remarkable knock of 171 runs from just 95 balls as India faced the UAE in their opening match of the Under-19 Men’s Asia Cup 2025 at the ICC Academy Ground.
From the very start, Suryavanshi showed fearless intent, taking the attack to the UAE bowlers with confidence far beyond his age. The left-hander reached his century in only 56 deliveries, a stunning effort that included clean hitting and precise placement. His innings was packed with boundaries, as he struck nine fours and cleared the ropes an astonishing 14 times, turning the match firmly in India’s favour.
Suryavanshi continued his dominance well after reaching three figures, punishing both pace and spin with ease. He eventually fell for 171 while attempting an aggressive paddle sweep, bowled by spinner Uddish Suri. Despite missing out on the Youth ODI record by just six runs, his knock now stands among the finest innings ever played at the under-19 level.
The young batter from Bihar has been rewriting record books throughout the year. He already holds the record for the fastest Youth ODI century, achieved earlier this year, and is also the youngest player to score a hundred in the format. His latest performance further strengthens his growing reputation as one of India’s most exciting cricket prospects.
This was not the first time Suryavanshi tormented the UAE bowling attack. Just weeks earlier, he had smashed a rapid 144 in a T20 tournament, showcasing his ability to score quickly across formats. With two centuries in Youth ODIs and consistent performances at the domestic level, his rise has been nothing short of extraordinary.
Earlier this season, Suryavanshi also made headlines in India’s domestic circuit by becoming the youngest player to score a century in a premier T20 competition. His calm approach, sharp shot selection and natural power have drawn attention from cricket experts across the country.
For India’s Under-19 team, the Asia Cup is an important step in preparation for the 2026 Under-19 ODI World Cup. Suryavanshi’s stunning innings has provided a strong start to the campaign and sent a clear message about India’s batting strength. As the tournament progresses, all eyes will remain on the teenage star who continues to shine brighter with every match.
