An Azerbaijan Airlines passenger aircraft crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. The Embraer 190 aircraft was operating a flight from Baku to Grozny when it developed technical trouble mid-air and attempted an emergency landing. The aircraft crashed during the landing attempt, leading to a major aviation accident.

A total of 62 passengers and 5 crew members were on board the aircraft. According to preliminary reports, around 28 to 32 people survived the crash, although many of them are said to be in critical condition.
