China Showcases Humanoid Robots Performing Kung Fu & Backflips for German Chancellor Merz

Post by : Shakul

Hangzhou, China — German Chancellor Friedrich Merz witnessed an impressive robotic showcase during his official visit to China, where humanoid machines performed complex martial arts routines and combat demonstrations. The event took place at Unitree Robotics, one of China’s leading robot manufacturers based in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.

Merz toured the company’s facilities and watched the “WuBot” robot performance, where AI-powered humanoid robots demonstrated kung fu moves, synchronized routines and staged combat, blending traditional martial arts with cutting-edge robotics technology. He also observed robots participating in boxing-style duels and other demonstrations of advanced motion control and AI-driven coordination.

The performance on display was an extension of earlier public demonstrations by the same machines, which previously appeared at China’s 2026 Spring Festival Gala with martial arts sequences that included flips, coordinated moves and traditional Wu-style choreography, showcasing progress in robotic agility and precision.

During the visit, Merz engaged with Unitree’s founder and examined robot components up close, underscoring China’s ambition to advance its intelligent robotics industry and its appeal to global partners. Company representatives described the event as a strategic step toward expanding international cooperation in AI and robotics.

The visit highlights China’s growing leadership in humanoid robotics as global manufacturers increasingly compete to bring advanced AI-enabled machines to market. Merz’s engagement with China’s tech sector also reflected broader economic ties, with his delegation exploring business opportunities across AI, automation, and manufacturing.
