Big horse races are coming up at Royal Ascot on Friday. One of the main races is the Coronation Stakes, where top three-year-old fillies (young female horses) will compete over 1,600 meters.
Zarigana, a horse trained by Francis-Henri Graffard, is the favorite. She recently won a big race in France called the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches, even though she was first past the post only after the judges made a decision. Zarigana has won important races before and is hoping to keep her perfect record this season.
Her main rival is Falakeyah, trained by Owen Burrows. Falakeyah has never lost a race. She first won a race at Wolverhampton and then won easily in the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket. Her team is confident she can do well at the shorter distance of 1,600 meters, and she has a good starting position for the race.
Another horse to watch is Kon Tiki, who is also unbeaten and won her last race at York by coming from last place to first.
Famous trainer Aidan O’Brien has two horses in the race, with January being the main one. January did well last year but didn't perform as expected in her last race in Ireland.
On the same day, there is another big race called the Commonwealth Cup, which is for three-year-old colts and fillies over 1,200 meters. Shadow Of Light is the favorite for this race. He won two Group One races as a young horse and is expected to do well now that he is running a shorter distance again. His main challenger could be Babouche, who won a top race in Ireland last year and looked strong in her recent comeback win.
These races are important events in the horse racing world, and fans are excited to see which horses will come out on top.
