Vietnam Bus Fire Crash Kills 7, Injures 5 Near Dong Nai

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Dong Nai City, Vietnam: A tragic bus accident in southern Vietnam has claimed the lives of seven people, while five others were injured after a sleeper bus crashed and caught fire during an overnight journey early Monday.

The accident occurred near Dong Nai City, Vietnam, when the passenger bus lost control and crashed into roadside embankments before flames broke out inside the vehicle.

Sleeper Bus Crashes Into Roadside Embankments in Vietnam

According to local authorities, the accident took place at around 2:30 a.m. when the sleeper bus suddenly veered off the road.

The vehicle first struck a roadside embankment and continued moving before hitting another embankment. After the second impact, the bus came to a stop and a fire started underneath the vehicle.

The flames quickly spread throughout the passenger cabin, leaving several passengers trapped inside.

Fire Spreads Quickly Inside Passenger Bus

The bus involved in the accident was a sleeper bus, a common mode of long-distance overnight transportation in Vietnam. These buses are equipped with reclining beds instead of traditional seats.

The fire spread rapidly, making it extremely difficult for passengers to escape. The driver attempted to alert everyone onboard and helped passengers evacuate, but the intensity of the flames prevented many from getting out in time.

Driver Tried To Rescue Passengers As Fire Broke Out

The driver, identified as 41-year-old Tran Thanh Hai, told authorities that he shouted for passengers to leave the bus after noticing the fire.

Despite rescue efforts, the blaze became uncontrollable within minutes, causing several casualties before emergency teams arrived at the scene.

Emergency Teams Recover Seven Bodies From Burned Bus

Firefighters reached the location and worked for nearly 30 minutes to control the fire. After extinguishing the flames, rescue teams recovered the bodies of seven victims from the badly damaged bus.

Five injured passengers were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Officials are monitoring their condition.

Investigation Underway Into Vietnam Bus Crash

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and the fire.

Officials are examining all possible reasons, including vehicle-related issues, road conditions, and other factors that may have contributed to the crash.

Sleeper Bus Safety Concerns Rise After Deadly Crash

Sleeper buses are widely used across Vietnam for overnight travel, especially on long-distance routes. However, accidents involving passenger buses often raise concerns about vehicle safety, emergency exits, and passenger protection.

Authorities are expected to release more details after completing the investigation into the Dong Nai bus fire accident.
