Abu Dhabi Unveils AI-Driven Policy Development Initiative

Post by : Badri Ariffin

The Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi (DGE) has launched a revolutionary AI-Driven Policy Development Initiative aimed at enhancing leadership and policymaking capabilities among government officials in Abu Dhabi. This executive programme is tailored for Executive Directors and senior leaders engaged in the crafting, execution, and oversight of policies.

In collaboration with the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP), a prestigious global policy institute, DGE intends to empower senior government officials with sophisticated policy development skills that bolster effective governance and elevate institutional performance.

Enhancing Policy Development Skills

This AI-driven initiative is set to elevate the standard of public policy by equipping executive leaders with essential strategic and practical skills in policymaking. Participants will discover how to transform insights into quantifiable institutional results while enhancing government service effectiveness.

By bolstering policy development proficiencies across the public sector, the programme aims to foster improved decision-making, hallmark policy execution, enhanced evaluation mechanisms, and increased coordination among various government departments. These enhancements are projected to yield superior outcomes for citizens, residents, and businesses throughout Abu Dhabi.

DGE's Commitment to Leadership Development

His Excellency Dr Yasir Al Naqbi, Director General of GovAcademy at DGE, emphasized that achieving government excellence starts with prioritizing people.

He remarked, “Our investment in human resources is central to our goals. This initiative reflects our dedication to nurturing governmental leaders and enabling them to design more effective and responsive policies that enhance the quality of citizen-focused government services and elevate public sector performance throughout Abu Dhabi.”

He further noted, “Through this groundbreaking initiative, we aim to boost government performance by cultivating the skills and systems necessary for the future. It will equip leaders to convert strategies into actions and measurable results while fostering a connected, future-ready government ecosystem.”

Hands-On Policy Skills for Participants

The programme grants executive leaders the practical skills needed to address policy challenges, select appropriate policy tools, navigate implementation hurdles, and engage stakeholders effectively.

Participants will also discover how to leverage international policy frameworks and leading global practices while ensuring alignment with Abu Dhabi's objectives and governmental priorities.

International Learning Module in Singapore

A standout feature of the programme is an immersive learning experience in Singapore, providing participants with international insights through engaging and interactive educational formats.

This module encompasses workshops, lectures, experiential learning journeys, group projects, and sessions with industry experts, focusing on areas such as impact assessment, behavioral insights, policy communication, evaluation processes, transformative governance, the Smart Nation initiative, and artificial intelligence applications in government.

Aligning with Abu Dhabi's Vision for Future Governance

This programme is integral to Abu Dhabi's strategy to foster a governance framework that proactively addresses future challenges through agile and evidence-supported policy development. It encourages enhanced collaboration among governmental agencies and advocates for anticipatory governance by recognizing emerging issues early and facilitating effective responses.

Through this endeavour, government leaders will be primed to craft policies that yield significant, sustainable advantages for society while supporting enduring government efficacy.

Continuous Learning and Commitment to Excellence

The initiation of the AI-Driven Policy Development Initiative underscores DGE's unwavering commitment to augmenting leadership capabilities and fostering ongoing professional growth within the Abu Dhabi Government.

By focusing on executive leadership and sophisticated policymaking skills, this initiative aspires to help government leaders align with Abu Dhabi's ambitious future goals and translate policy decisions into sustainable institutional impact.
