Abu Dhabi Welcomes ResponsibleSteel Forum 2027 for the First Time

Post by : Badri Ariffin

From March 16 to 18, 2027, Abu Dhabi will proudly host the ResponsibleSteel Forum, representing the inaugural occurrence of this international event in the MENA region. EMSTEEL Group, a key player as one of the largest publicly listed steel and building materials companies in the area, is confirmed as the Lead Sponsor for this three-day gathering.

The forum aims to unite prominent figures from the global steel value chain, including policymakers, investors, technology innovators, steel manufacturers, customers, and representatives from various sectors.

Industry Transformation and Climate Focus at the Forum

Designed to foster dialogues on industrial transitions, climate action, and the challenges of decarbonising traditional industries, the ResponsibleSteel Forum will also shine a light on Abu Dhabi's evolving status as a hub for significant industrial discussions.

This event mirrors EMSTEEL's ongoing commitment to advancing responsible steel production and facilitating a shift towards manufacturing processes that minimize emissions while boosting long-term viability.

Strategic Importance Underlined by EMSTEEL CEO

Eng. Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi, Group CEO of EMSTEEL, highlighted the significance of hosting the ResponsibleSteel Forum in Abu Dhabi for the first time in the MENA region, acknowledging it as a landmark achievement for EMSTEEL, the UAE, and the global steel sector.

He emphasized that the forum signifies Abu Dhabi's expanding role as a global center for discussions focused on industrial transformation and climate strategies. Furthermore, as decarbonisation increasingly impacts business practices, investment planning, and competitiveness, this event serves as a vital platform for global participants to converge and develop actionable solutions that foster a sustainable steel industry.

CEO of ResponsibleSteel Advocates for Global Collaboration

Annie Heaton, CEO of ResponsibleSteel, noted that the dynamic global landscape has amplified the necessity for clean energy frameworks and showcased the pivotal role of sunbelt economies in advancing lower-emission iron and steel production.

She asserted that the ResponsibleSteel Forum 2027 will convene industry leaders for critical discussions about the future of responsible steel production. By hosting the forum in the UAE, ResponsibleSteel aspires to translate collective aspirations into aligned actions, accelerating progress toward a more responsible and low-emission steel sector.

Important Topics to Be Addressed

As global industries progress toward decarbonisation, the forum will serve as a venue for discussing tangible solutions aimed at emission reduction in steelmaking.

Key discussions will encompass:

  • Advancing responsible steel production
  • Enhancing certification and verification frameworks
  • Refining emissions evaluation and reporting
  • Building trust in low-emission steel products
  • Promoting sustainable industrial practices

Steel Industry Adaptation in a Shifting World

The 2027 iteration of the ResponsibleSteel Forum arrives during a period when the global steel industry is navigating evolving regulations, investment strategies, customer anticipations, and universally acknowledged sustainability standards.

The forum aims to bolster collaboration among industry stakeholders, hasten viable solutions, and advocate for the cultivation of industrial ecosystems that prioritize sustainability while maintaining competitive edge.
