In a major development, the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) Group, along with Jordan’s financial institutions, has launched a new electronic trading link connecting the ADX and the Amman Stock Exchange through the Tabadul platform.
The formal announcement took place during a ceremony in Amman, with key figures from the financial sectors of both nations in attendance, including Ghannam Al Mazrouei, ADX Chairman, and Emad Abu Haltem, Chairman of the Jordan Securities Commission.
This new trading link is a pivotal step toward enhancing financial collaboration between the UAE and Jordan. It aims to provide integrated market access and broaden investment avenues for traders through authorized brokers across both exchanges.
Emad Abu Haltem remarked on the event's significance, stating that it underlines the essential economic relations between Jordan and the UAE. He emphasized that the initiative is set to improve market efficiencies and increase liquidity, thereby offering greater investment possibilities to stakeholders.
Abdullah Salem Al Nuaimi emphasized the importance of the Tabadul platform in facilitating regional market connectivity. He explained that this platform offers a safe and streamlined interface for investors and brokers, enhancing the appeal of the regional capital markets.
Mazen Al Wathaifi added that the electronic link aligns with the Amman Stock Exchange's goals of fostering increased synergies with both regional and global markets. He believes this initiative will attract investment and fortify market liquidity while enriching expertise among financial entities.
Sara Al Tarawneh discussed how this agreement simplifies cross-market trading for investors under a cohesive legal and regulatory framework. She assured that the efficiency and reliability of settlement, clearing, and post-trade services would be maintained at a high standard.
The launch event also featured the ringing of the opening bell, symbolizing the initiation of this new electronic trading connection. Notably, the first transaction successfully took place during the launch, marking a significant milestone.
The ceremony concluded with delegates exchanging commemorative shields and capturing group photos that underscored the strong financial and economic alliance between the UAE and Jordan.
Introduced by ADX in 2022, the Tabadul platform's goal is to interlink regional stock exchanges and facilitate seamless cross-market transactions. It allows both investors and brokers access to several participating exchanges through a singular framework.
Among the current members linked through the Tabadul platform are the Muscat Stock Exchange, Bahrain Bourse, Astana International Exchange, Kazakhstan Stock Exchange, Armenia Securities Exchange, along with the Amman and Abu Dhabi Securities Exchanges.
This launch follows the signing of an electronic linking agreement on December 11, 2024, in Abu Dhabi involving ADX, the Amman Stock Exchange, and the Securities Depository Center, which laid the groundwork for Jordan's involvement in the Tabadul platform and aims to bolster market efficiency and expand investment opportunities for both nations’ investors.
