Air Arabia Introduces Direct Route from Sharjah to Thailand’s Krabi

Air Arabia Introduces Direct Route from Sharjah to Thailand’s Krabi

Post by : Maya Rahman

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has celebrated the inaugural flight of Air Arabia’s new direct route from Sharjah, UAE, to Krabi, Thailand. This new service is anticipated to enhance tourism flow from the Middle East to southern Thailand, particularly during the busy holiday season. The flight will depart Sharjah on November 28, 2025, with an arrival in Krabi the following day, offering travelers from the Middle East and North Africa a convenient access point to Thailand beyond its popular hubs like Phuket.

With this new connection, Air Arabia plans to add around 5,220 extra seats monthly. This expansion opens up more opportunities for adventurous tourists eager to experience Thailand’s picturesque beaches, rich culture, and wellness amenities. Officials from TAT, such as Sasithorn Kittidhrakul, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Interior, and Angkul Seelatewakul, Governor of Krabi Province, were present at the welcome event for the first flight. The route is a part of TAT’s Airline Focus Strategy, aimed at courting affluent tourists from the Middle East interested in high-end, family, and wellness travel experiences.

The Middle Eastern tourism market holds immense promise for Thailand. Nations within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) — like the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman — have been pivotal in increasing the number of international visitors. From January to November 2025, Thailand welcomed 728,340 tourists from the Middle East, with an average stay of 10 days and spending around 100,000 baht per visit. With the launch of the Sharjah-Krabi route, TAT anticipates an increase in Middle Eastern arrivals to 850,000 by year-end.

This new service not only propels tourism but also positively impacts Krabi’s economy. Local establishments such as hotels, restaurants, spas, and wellness centers will see benefits from the influx of travelers. More visitors will generate new jobs and stimulate investment, enhancing TAT’s “Value over Volume” strategy, which prioritizes sustainable economic growth over mere visitor numbers.

The new route aligns with Thailand’s commitment to the BCG economy (Bio-Circular-Green), which advocates for sustainable tourism development. By encouraging eco-friendly and socially responsible travel practices, Thailand continues to reinforce its standing as a premier global destination. The Sharjah-Krabi service reflects confidence in Thailand’s tourism infrastructure and superior service standards that cater to international visitors.

By directly linking the Middle East to southern Thailand, this route strengthens the country’s status as a center for quality tourism. It diversifies the tourism landscape and highlights Thailand’s dedication to attracting high-value visitors from the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. The launch is expected to uplift the Thai economy, foster local businesses, and endorse sustainable tourism practices balancing environmental, social, and economic aspects.

In summary, Air Arabia’s direct flight from Sharjah to Krabi marks a significant milestone for Thailand’s tourism landscape. It enhances convenience for travelers, bolsters the local economy, and positions Thailand as a key destination for luxury, wellness, and family travel from the Middle East. TAT's commitment to attracting quality visitors ensures that the tourism sector can continue to thrive sustainably, benefiting both tourists and local communities.
