A Lamborghini fire on Singapore's ECP caused heavy traffic on the evening of July 23 after the luxury sports car caught fire along the East Coast Parkway (ECP). The incident happened on the highway towards Changi, just before the Still Road South exit. While the fire created long traffic delays during the evening rush hour, no injuries were reported.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received an emergency call about the fire at around 5:20 pm. Firefighters quickly reached the scene and found that the blaze was limited to the Lamborghini's engine compartment. They used a water jet to put out the fire before it could spread further.
The SCDF confirmed that the fire was successfully extinguished within a short time. The driver escaped safely, and no injuries were reported. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
Videos shared on social media showed a bright green Lamborghini covered in flames while parked on the road shoulder. Emergency crews secured the area, and traffic cones blocked the left-most lane as firefighters worked to control the situation.
The Lamborghini fire on Singapore's ECP caused heavy congestion on one of the city's busiest expressways. Shortly after the incident, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) advised motorists to avoid the affected lane on the ECP towards Changi after Tanjong Katong.
By 8:05 pm, the LTA reported heavy traffic between Marine Parade and Rochor Road as vehicles moved slowly through the area. Although traffic continued to flow, congestion remained for several hours due to the emergency response.
The incident also affected public transport. The MyTransport.SG app reported that bus services 12e, 36, 48 and 518 were delayed by up to 25 minutes because of the fire and traffic congestion.
The cause of the Lamborghini fire on Singapore's ECP has not yet been confirmed. Investigators are examining the vehicle to determine what started the blaze.
The incident highlights the importance of regular vehicle maintenance, even for high-performance luxury cars. Quick action by the Singapore Civil Defence Force helped prevent injuries and stopped the fire from spreading to nearby vehicles.
Authorities are expected to release more details once the investigation is complete.
