An airstrike involving a Russian guided bomb in Zaporizhzhia resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left over a dozen more injured on Tuesday, as reported by local authorities.
The strike inflicted significant damage on a nine-storey apartment block, with flames engulfing seven floors, according to the regional military administration's updates on Telegram. Emergency services rushed to manage the fire and assist those affected.
Governor Ivan Fedorov identified the deceased, noting that two victims were in their sixties and the third was 49. Additionally, official sources have confirmed that more than a dozen injuries resulted from the attack.
Tetiana, a 38-year-old resident of the affected building, articulated the daily peril faced by locals: "Each day feels dangerous. Mornings bring Shahed attacks, bombings at lunchtime, and more dangers while driving back home in the evening.”
Visuals from the site depicted extensive destruction on one side of the residential structure, with emergency teams actively fighting the fire amidst burned vehicles abandoned nearby.
Ukrainian representatives indicated that Russia regularly employs guided bombs in assaults on regions near the frontlines. These aerial munitions are typically Soviet-model bombs retrofitted with wings and modern navigation to enhance targeting precision.
Despite the ongoing destruction of civilian sites, Moscow continues to refute charges of intentionally hitting non-combatants. Since initiating a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, residential structures and essential civilian facilities have been repeatedly impacted.
