Chinese Airlines Order 95 Airbus Jets Worth $17.8 Billion

Chinese Airlines Order 95 Airbus Jets Worth $17.8 Billion

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Three Chinese airlines have announced plans to purchase a total of 95 Airbus aircraft, including A350 widebody and A320neo-family jets, as they continue expanding their fleets and increasing capacity.

The aircraft orders were disclosed by Air China, Shenzhen Airlines, and Hainan Airlines in filings submitted to the Shanghai Stock Exchange on July 17. Based on list prices, the combined value of the deals is approximately $17.8 billion.

Air China and Shenzhen Airlines Lead the Orders

The largest order comes from Air China and its subsidiary Shenzhen Airlines, which together will acquire 55 Airbus aircraft. The combined list-price value of their purchase is approximately $12.4 billion.

Under the agreement, Air China will buy 15 Airbus A350-900 widebody aircraft, while Shenzhen Airlines will purchase 40 Airbus A320neo-family narrowbody aircraft.

Hainan Airlines Orders 40 A320neo Aircraft

Separately, Hainan Airlines has agreed to acquire 40 Airbus A320neo-family aircraft. The airline said the order has a list-price value of up to $5.4 billion.

The aircraft are scheduled for delivery between 2028 and 2032.

Fleet Expansion and Modernisation

The new aircraft purchases reflect the airlines' plans to expand their operations while modernising their fleets with Airbus aircraft. The combined order includes both widebody and narrowbody jets to support future capacity requirements.
