Cocktail 2 Opens Strong, Becomes Shahid Kapoor's Second-Best Opener

Cocktail 2 Opens Strong, Becomes Shahid Kapoor's Second-Best Opener

Post by : Shakul

Shahid Kapoor's latest romantic drama Cocktail 2 has made an impressive start at the Indian box office. The film, which released on June 19, collected ₹13.50 crore on its opening day and emerged as one of the biggest Bollywood openings of the year.

The film marks Shahid Kapoor's second-highest opening-day collection, trailing only behind Kabir Singh, which had opened with ₹20 crore and later became one of the actor's biggest commercial successes.

Occupancy Improved Throughout The Day

According to early trade reports, Cocktail 2 witnessed steady growth in audience turnout throughout Friday. Morning shows recorded modest occupancy, while afternoon and evening screenings saw a significant rise in footfall.

Night shows performed particularly well, registering the highest occupancy of the day and helping boost the overall opening collection.

Major Cities Contribute To Collections

Key metropolitan markets played an important role in the film's opening-day performance. Mumbai and Delhi-NCR recorded healthy audience turnout across hundreds of screenings.

Trade analysts believe positive word-of-mouth and strong advance bookings in urban centers helped the film secure a solid opening despite facing competition from multiple new releases.

Facing Competition From Multiple Releases

Cocktail 2 entered cinemas alongside several other films across different genres. The movie faced competition from Bollywood releases, independent films and international titles currently playing in theatres.

Despite the crowded release calendar, the Shahid Kapoor starrer managed to attract audiences and maintain a strong presence across multiplexes.

Shahid Kapoor On The Film's A Certificate

Before the release, Shahid Kapoor spoke about the film receiving an Adult certification from the Central Board of Film Certification. The actor expressed surprise over the classification and said he believed the movie could be enjoyed by a wider audience.

He described Cocktail 2 as an emotional and relatable story that highlights relationships, friendship and life's memorable moments.

Spiritual Sequel To A Popular Film

Directed by Homi Adajania, Cocktail 2 is considered a spiritual successor to the 2012 hit Cocktail. The film stars Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles.

With a promising opening day and positive audience response, industry observers will now watch closely to see whether the film can maintain momentum over the weekend.

Weekend Performance Under Focus

The coming days are expected to be crucial for Cocktail 2. Strong weekend collections could further strengthen its box office position and help the film emerge as one of the notable Bollywood successes of 2026.

Trade experts believe sustained audience interest and positive reviews will play a key role in determining the film's long-term performance.
