Deepika Padukone's journey in 2025 has been marked by significant changes. Initially set to star in two major pan-Indian films, she has now opted out of both. The actress has publicly parted ways with director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, stepping back from his project Spirit, and has also exited the Kalki 2898 AD sequel helmed by Nag Ashwin.
The 2024 hit Kalki 2898 AD featured Deepika alongside stars like Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan. Her departures have captured media interest, especially as she reportedly requested shorter working hours due to her recent motherhood, which led to Triptii Dimri stepping in her place in Spirit.
In a recent interview, Deepika stated that the allure of large-scale films has diminished for her. "Honestly, how much more fame, success, or money can one achieve? At this point, it's not the goal anymore. It's not about ₹100-crore films or even ₹500-₹600 crore ones," she expressed.
Instead, Deepika has turned her attention towards storytelling and nurturing other creative talents. "What drives me now is empowering others. My team and I are dedicated to storytelling and supporting writers, directors, and even emerging producers. That’s what holds real value to me now," she remarked.
Though she has stepped back from some notable projects, Deepika has two significant releases on the horizon. She will reunite with Shah Rukh Khan for King, directed by Siddharth Anand, featuring Suhana Khan, set for release in 2026. Additionally, she will star opposite Allu Arjun in Atlee's untitled film, tentatively named AA22xA6, expected to launch in 2027.
