Spain's Eugenio Chacarra has ascended to the third position in the latest Race to Dubai Rankings following his impressive win at the DS Automobiles 83° Open d'Italia, which wrapped up on Sunday at Circolo Golf Torino. The latest rankings released on Monday reflect this significant accomplishment for the Spaniard. This victory further cements Chacarra's status among the elite golfers on the DP World Tour as he showcases remarkable form this season.
Chacarra's triumph at the Italian Open marks his second consecutive win on the DP World Tour, following his victory at the KLM Open earlier this month. This back-to-back success has greatly enhanced his position in the 2026 Race to Dubai Rankings, fueling his momentum as the season approaches its conclusion. His consistent performance has solidified his reputation as one of the tour's standout players.
With this recent win, Chacarra amassed 585 Race to Dubai points, bringing his seasonal total to 2,107 points. He now sits firmly in third place, narrowing the distance to the leaderboard's current frontrunner, Patrick Reed, who boasts 2,690 points, while last season's champion, Rory McIlroy, holds second with 2,269 points.
Chacarra showcased an outstanding performance throughout the tournament, consistently leading from the first round to the final. His stellar rounds of 66, 65, 65, and 64 culminated in a total of 24-under-par for the week.
This remarkable score led him to a comfortable five-shot victory over England's Matt Wallace, who ended the tournament at 19-under-par. The decisive winning margin emphasized Chacarra's consistency and control over all four rounds.
Hailing from Madrid, Chacarra was once recognized as a promising football talent until a wrist injury shifted his focus entirely to golf. This pivotal decision has since led him to numerous successes on the DP World Tour.
His recent victories have marked a pivotal advancement in his professional path, establishing him as a top contender in this year’s Race to Dubai.
The Race to Dubai remains one of the premier competitions in professional golf, with players vying throughout the year for a chance to qualify for the DP World Tour Play-Offs in the UAE this November.
The top 70 contenders in the Race to Dubai Rankings will qualify for the Abu Dhabi Championship, scheduled at Yas Links from November 5–8, 2026. Following this event, the top 50 will secure spots at the DP World Tour Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates, held from November 12–15, 2026, to resolve the season's champion.
The DS Automobiles 83° Open d'Italia was the 24th event on the current DP World Tour calendar. The 2026 schedule features 42 events across 25 nations under the Race to Dubai banner, offering players ample opportunities to earn critical ranking points throughout the year.
The focus now shifts to the BMW International Open in Germany, which will serve as the finale of the European swing this season. As the Race to Dubai rankings grow increasingly competitive, each upcoming tournament will play a crucial role in determining playoff qualifications and the overall championship race.
