A shocking and gruesome murder case has emerged from Switzerland, where the husband of a former Miss Switzerland finalist has been formally charged with her killing. The suspect, identified only as Thomas under Swiss privacy laws, is accused of strangling his wife, Kristina Joksimovic, 38, in February 2024 before dismembering her in their home in Binningen. Kristina, a well-known model and former Miss Northwest Switzerland, had also been a finalist in the Miss Switzerland competition in 2007 and later became a catwalk coach mentoring several models.
According to Swiss authorities, the crime involved an alarming level of planning and brutality. Investigators revealed that Thomas allegedly used a jigsaw knife, garden shears, and an industrial blender to dismember his wife, with certain body parts reportedly “pureed” and dissolved in a chemical solution. The autopsy report indicated that Thomas removed Kristina’s womb, snapped her hip joints, severed limbs, decapitated her, and dismantled her spine. Court documents further suggest that Thomas watched online videos on his phone while committing the gruesome act, reflecting a disturbing lack of empathy and cold-blooded behavior.
Kristina’s remains were initially discovered by her father, who noticed blonde hair protruding from a black bag in the home’s laundry room. Thomas initially claimed he found his wife dead but later admitted to killing her, alleging self-defense after she supposedly attacked him with a knife. Forensic experts, however, found no evidence supporting his claim, confirming that Kristina died from strangulation.
The Basel-Landschaft Public Prosecutor’s Office has now formally charged Thomas with murder and disturbing the peace. The couple shared two daughters, and Thomas remains in custody while authorities continue their investigation. A trial date has not yet been set. The shocking case has sent ripples across Switzerland, drawing widespread attention due to the victim’s prominence as a former beauty queen and the extreme violence involved in the crime.
This horrifying murder highlights ongoing concerns around domestic violence and the shocking extremes of criminal behavior, making it a case that has captivated international media attention. Kristina Joksimovic’s life and career, including her achievements in modeling and mentorship, are remembered as authorities prepare for legal proceedings against her husband.
