The iconic Times Square in New York transformed into a global wellness hub as hundreds of yoga enthusiasts gathered to celebrate the 12th International Day of Yoga. The event witnessed participants from different countries performing yoga together while chants of "Om" echoed through one of the world's busiest locations.

The celebration was organized by the Consulate General of India in New York in collaboration with Times Square NYC. People from diverse cultural backgrounds participated in yoga sessions aimed at promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and inner peace.

This year's International Yoga Day was observed under the theme "Yoga for Healthy Ageing". Organizers highlighted the importance of yoga in helping people maintain an active and healthy lifestyle as populations around the world continue to age.

Experts noted that yoga can improve flexibility, balance, mental health and overall quality of life. The theme encouraged individuals to adopt yoga as a daily practice for long-term wellness.

Yoga Guru Credits PM Modi

Renowned Yoga Guru Dr. H.R. Nagendra attended the event and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking yoga to the global stage through the International Day of Yoga initiative.

He said yoga is an ancient science that helps people move beyond physical health and achieve mental and spiritual balance. He also stressed that regular yoga practice can contribute to building a healthier and more united world.
