The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) Election Results 2025 are expected to be declared by Thursday evening, with early trends indicating a neck-and-neck contest between the Left alliance and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). The much-anticipated polls witnessed a voter turnout of 67%, slightly lower than last year’s 70%, but still reflecting strong student engagement in campus politics.
According to initial counts, the Left panel is leading in three of the four key central posts — President, Vice President, and Joint Secretary — while ABVP maintains a competitive edge in the race for General Secretary. The counting process, which began late Tuesday night, is still underway.
Close Contest in Key Posts
Early results show Aditi Mishra of the Left panel leading the presidential race with 1,111 votes, followed by Vikas Patel (ABVP) with 914 votes and Shinde Vijayalakshmi (PSA) trailing at 763 votes.
In the Vice President category, K. Gopika of the Left holds a comfortable lead with 1,736 votes, ahead of Tanya Kumari (ABVP) who secured 1,096 votes.
The battle for General Secretary is particularly tight, with Rajeshwar Kant Dubey (ABVP) slightly ahead at 1,148 votes, compared to Sunil Yadav (Left) with 1,107 votes — a margin of just 41 votes.
For Joint Secretary, Danish Ali (Left) leads with 1,220 votes, followed closely by Anuj Damara (ABVP) with 1,118 votes, showcasing one of the closest contests of the election.
Candidates and Their Campaigns
The Left has fielded Aditi Mishra (President), Kizhakoot Gopika Babu (Vice President), Sunil Yadav (General Secretary), and Danish Ali (Joint Secretary). Their campaign focused on issues like academic freedom, hostel reforms, and safeguarding student rights.
The ABVP, on the other hand, has nominated Vikas Patel (President), Tanya Kumari (Vice President), Rajeshwar Kant Dubey (General Secretary), and Anuj (Joint Secretary), centering their agenda on campus infrastructure, inclusivity, and national integration.
Voter Turnout and Campus Spirit
A total of 9,043 students were eligible to cast their votes this year across four central posts and 42 councillor seats spread across different schools. Despite the slight dip in turnout, the campus witnessed high enthusiasm and active participation during campaigning and debates, keeping the spirit of student democracy alive.
The final results are expected to be officially announced later this evening. Both panels are optimistic, and celebrations have already begun in various parts of the campus as supporters eagerly await the concluding tallies.
