On Wednesday, Kuwait International Airport's Terminal One was targeted by Iranian missiles and drones, prompting the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) to implement its emergency response plan, which included immediate action due to casualties and damage.
According to PACA spokesperson Abdullah Al-Rajhi, emergency measures were swiftly initiated to protect passengers, staff, and vital infrastructure in accordance with established protocols.
All air traffic has been suspended at Kuwait International Airport, with flights rerouted to alternative airports until further updates as authorities work to gauge the impact and restore safety.
Al-Rajhi mentioned that security and technical contingency strategies are actively being implemented to facilitate the eventual reopening of the airport. Technical teams have started assessing the damage from the strike to plan for repairs.
A specific timeline for reopening the airport has yet to be announced, as evaluations of the affected areas are currently underway.
