Prime Minister Le Minh Hung departed from Hanoi on June 16 to attend the Summit commemorating the 35th anniversary of ASEAN-Russia relations in Kazan, Russia. The visit is taking place at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and will continue until June 18.
The Prime Minister is leading a high-level Vietnamese delegation that includes senior ministers, government officials, diplomats and representatives from key economic and business organizations. The visit marks Le Minh Hung’s first official trip to Russia since assuming office as Prime Minister.
Vietnamese officials described the visit as an important diplomatic mission aimed at advancing the country’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateral cooperation and diversified international relations. The trip also reflects Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening regional and global partnerships.
A major focus of the visit will be participation in the ASEAN-Russia 35th Anniversary Summit. Vietnam views ASEAN-Russia cooperation as strategically important and hopes to contribute to expanding collaboration in areas such as political security, economic development, energy and socio-cultural exchanges.
The Prime Minister’s participation also highlights Vietnam’s intention to play a constructive role in strengthening the ASEAN-Russia Strategic Partnership. Vietnamese leaders believe closer cooperation can create new opportunities for regional stability, trade growth and long-term development.
During his stay in Russia, Le Minh Hung is also expected to hold bilateral meetings aimed at enhancing the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia. Discussions are likely to focus on defense, security, science and technology, education, transportation, energy, banking and tourism cooperation.
The visit underlines the strong traditional friendship between Vietnam and Russia and demonstrates both countries’ commitment to implementing existing agreements while exploring new opportunities for cooperation in emerging sectors.
