Mahindra XEV 9S Launched India’s Spacious 7-Seater Electric SUV

Mahindra XEV 9S Launched India’s Spacious 7-Seater Electric SUV

Post by : Rameen Ariff

Mahindra has launched its most ambitious electric SUV in India, the XEV 9S, marking a major step in the country’s growing electric vehicle market. The new model is a seven-seater SUV designed entirely around space, power, and next-generation technology, aiming to offer families comfort, practicality, and advanced features in an electric format.

Unveiled in Bengaluru, the Mahindra XEV 9S is built on the company’s INGLO electric-origin platform and will be offered in six variants, with prices starting at ₹19.95 lakh. Bookings open on 14 January 2026, and deliveries are set to begin on 23 January 2026. The range includes a 70 kWh battery variant and a top-end 79 kWh Pack Three Above model priced at ₹29.45 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra positions the XEV 9S as a spacious and versatile option, not only for electric vehicle buyers but also as a practical alternative to traditional internal combustion SUVs. The cabin has been designed with a focus on comfort, quietness, and adaptability, featuring a three-row layout optimized for family use. The SUV offers the largest cabin in its class, with 4,076 litres of space across the first two rows, a 527-litre boot, and a 150-litre front trunk, a rare addition in this segment.

R Velusamy, President of Mahindra’s Automotive Business, highlighted the SUV’s balance of technology and comfort, noting that the MAIA intelligent system enables many high-tech features and ensures a smooth, noise-free ride. Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra Automotive Division, added that the XEV 9S redefines the EV category by combining space, technology, and efficiency to expand the electric mobility segment in India. Chief Design Officer Pratap Bose emphasized the SUV’s design philosophy, aiming to create a personal sanctuary while reflecting modern Indian aesthetics.

Performance-wise, the XEV 9S is equipped with advanced LFP batteries of 70 kWh or 79 kWh, offering a real-world range of up to 500 km. It delivers up to 210 kW of power, 380 Nm of torque, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 202 km/h. Fast DC charging can take the battery from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes. The SUV’s suspension features intelligent adaptive dampers with i-Link and a five-link rear setup for a smooth ride.

The XEV 9S comes loaded with over 140 connected features, including digital key support, user profiles, live security monitoring, and a BYOD system for in-car entertainment. Top variants include Qualcomm’s 8295 chipset, dual wireless charging, and AutoPark Assist. Safety has been prioritized with up to seven airbags, Level 2+ ADAS featuring five radars and one camera, a driver monitoring system, 360-degree cameras, blind spot detection, and a high-stiffness body structure.

Inside, the SUV offers ventilated seats in the first two rows, powered boss mode, reclining and sliding second-row seats, dual-zone climate control, sunshades, lounge desks, and special climate modes for pets and cargo. A panoramic skyroof and large dashboard screens add to the premium feel, complemented by high-quality upholstery and a quiet cabin thanks to acoustic laminated glass.

The Mahindra XEV 9S aims to combine space, comfort, technology, and performance in one advanced electric SUV, making it a strong contender in India’s competitive EV market. Customers can test drive the SUV from 5 January 2026 and place bookings starting 14 January, with deliveries beginning on 23 January 2026.

This launch positions Mahindra as a key player in India’s electric SUV segment, catering to families and tech-savvy buyers looking for a spacious, powerful, and feature-rich electric vehicle.
