MBZUH Earns UK QAA International Quality Accreditation

MBZUH Earns UK QAA International Quality Accreditation

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities (MBZUH) has been awarded the International Quality Accreditation (IQA), an institutional accreditation granted by the UK Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA). The achievement highlights the university's commitment to maintaining high academic standards while advancing its humanitarian mission focused on tolerance, coexistence, openness, moderation, and dialogue among cultures.

The accreditation further strengthens the university's reputation as an institution that combines academic excellence with a values-based educational approach aimed at promoting understanding between communities and supporting quality higher education.

Accreditation Recognises International Academic Standards

The International Quality Accreditation confirms that the university meets the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ESG), which serve as internationally recognized benchmarks for quality assurance in higher education institutions.

The ESG framework evaluates institutions across ten major areas, including the quality of academic programmes, student experience, student-centred learning, efficient use of resources, governance, transparency, and continuous institutional development. The framework also supports ongoing programme improvement and encourages institutions to follow internationally accepted best practices.

Comprehensive Evaluation of University Performance

The accreditation process involved an extensive assessment of the university's key institutional functions. The review examined leadership and governance, strategic planning, academic programmes, quality assurance systems, and continuous improvement practices.

The evaluation concluded that the university has established a strong institutional foundation capable of adapting to the changing global higher education environment while maintaining high standards of academic quality.

Student Services and Campus Experience Reviewed

As part of the accreditation process, the university's student support services and campus environment were also assessed.

The review covered student recruitment policies, admissions and registration procedures, orientation programmes, academic advising, psychological and social support services, student welfare initiatives, cultural and scientific activities, volunteer programmes, digital learning technologies, scholarships, and academic resources.

Together, these services were recognised for creating an environment that supports both students' academic achievement and personal development throughout their university experience.

Chancellor Highlights Strategic Vision

Dr. Khalifa Mubarak Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities, described the accreditation as an achievement that extends beyond international recognition of institutional performance. "This accreditation is more than international recognition of institutional performance. It reflects the success of a strategic vision grounded in people, knowledge and values as the true foundations for shaping the future. The university has built an academic system capable of competing globally without departing from its mission to advance wisdom, foster dialogue among civilisations and serve humanity."

He added: "This distinction reinforces our responsibility to keep developing and looking ahead. It gives us added momentum to expand international cooperation, strengthen our academic and research programmes, and deepen the university's contribution to producing rigorous scholarship and advancing intellectual and scientific initiatives that respond to global change and contemporary challenges."

Human Knowledge Remains at the Core of the University's Mission

Dr. Al Dhaheri also said that the university views human knowledge as a key driver of development and progress. He noted that preparing individuals with strong critical thinking abilities and encouraging constructive dialogue remain central to the institution's academic and cultural mission.

Strengthening Global Academic Position

The International Quality Accreditation reinforces Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities' position among leading academic institutions worldwide. It also supports the university's efforts to expand its academic, cultural, and humanitarian contributions through quality education, scientific research, and intellectual initiatives that address modern challenges.

The recognition further aligns with the UAE's vision of building a future based on innovation, excellence, and sustainability.
