PAF Fighter Jets Conduct Flypast Rehearsals Over Islamabad

PAF Fighter Jets Conduct Flypast Rehearsals Over Islamabad

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter jets were seen flying over Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Wednesday as preparations continued for Pakistan’s Independence Day celebrations on August 14.

Videos shared on social media showed PAF aircraft carrying out aerial manoeuvres and flying in formation over the federal capital. The activity attracted attention from residents who recorded and shared footage of the flights online.

PAF Rehearsals Ahead of August 14

The flights are reportedly linked to preparations for an Independence Day flypast and air display around August 14. PAF aerial rehearsals have also been conducted in Islamabad ahead of national-day celebrations in previous years.

Posts shared on social media on August 11 showed fighter jets flying over the Islamabad-Rawalpindi area. One post by Asad Nasir described the activity as PAF jets flying over the area, while another post by Strategic Warfare said PAF fighter jets were flying over Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Pakistan Prepares for 79th Independence Day

The aerial activity comes as Pakistan prepares to observe its 79th Independence Day on August 14.

PAF flypasts and aerobatic displays have traditionally been among the notable parts of Independence Day celebrations in Islamabad. Such events allow residents to watch military aircraft conduct coordinated aerial formations and manoeuvres over the capital.

Airspace Arrangements for Rehearsals

Authorities have previously coordinated temporary airspace or flight-operation restrictions around Islamabad to support flypast rehearsals and related activities.

These arrangements have been used to facilitate aerial rehearsals and displays rather than to impose prolonged closures of Islamabad airport operations.

Details of 2026 Flypast Programme Not Confirmed

While videos of the latest flights have circulated widely, the exact aircraft involved, timings and complete programme for the 2026 August 14 display have not yet been officially confirmed in the sources reviewed.

The latest activity has nevertheless drawn considerable attention from Islamabad residents, with several people sharing footage of the fighter jets flying over the capital.

PAF aerial displays remain a prominent feature of Pakistan’s national celebrations, highlighting the flying skills and coordinated performance of its aircrew.
