Prada Returns To Fashion Basics At Milan Week

Prada Returns To Fashion Basics At Milan Week

Post by : Shakul

Luxury fashion house Prada presented its Spring/Summer 2027 menswear collection at Milan Fashion Week, showcasing a return to minimalist and practical fashion. Designers Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons focused on creating clothing inspired by everyday street style rather than exclusive runway trends.

The collection was described as fashion’s version of a simple pasta pomodoro, highlighting the beauty of basic essentials. The designers emphasized clean silhouettes, practical pieces and timeless elegance over excessive decoration.

A New Take On Everyday Fashion

The collection featured slim-cut jackets paired with five-pocket trousers, creating a modern and streamlined look. While denim inspired the designs, most outfits were crafted from luxurious leather and technical fabrics instead of traditional jeans material.

Models walked the runway in shades of antique white, grey, burgundy and turquoise. Several outfits also featured lightweight transparent fabrics designed for warmer weather conditions.

Leather Takes Center Stage

One of the standout elements of the collection was the extensive use of soft leather. The material was transformed into jackets, trousers and blousons, giving basic wardrobe staples a premium appearance.

Only a few final looks included actual denim, reinforcing the designers’ intention to reinterpret everyday fashion through a luxury lens rather than relying on conventional fabrics.

Street Style Influences Luxury Fashion

Raf Simons explained that many of fashion’s strongest ideas originate from the streets rather than luxury fashion houses. The collection aimed to reconnect high fashion with the clothing people genuinely wear in their daily lives.

The designers focused on creating a sharp and simple silhouette that feels modern, comfortable and accessible while maintaining Prada’s signature sophistication.

Accessories Complete The Look

Accessories remained understated throughout the show. Models carried colorful waist pouches attached to thick belts, while pointed shoes with multiple Velcro straps added a contemporary edge to the outfits.

Geometric-patterned knitwear and silk scarves tied around the waist introduced subtle visual contrasts without overwhelming the minimalist aesthetic.

Celebrity Presence At Milan Fashion Week

The show attracted several high-profile guests, including NBA star Anthony Edwards, singer Troye Sivan, K-pop group ENHYPEN and British actor Louis Partridge. Fans gathered outside the venue despite the summer heatwave to catch a glimpse of their favorite celebrities.

The presentation took place in a minimalist showroom with transparent seating, ensuring every guest had an equal view of the runway.

Prada Focuses On Timeless Luxury

According to Miuccia Prada, the goal was to create universally wearable clothing and avoid unnecessary design elements. The collection reflects a growing movement within luxury fashion toward simplicity, functionality and lasting style.

By blending premium materials with everyday silhouettes, Prada delivered a collection that redefines modern luxury for the next generation of fashion consumers.
