Putin Says Russia Ready For Ukraine Peace Talks

Putin Says Russia Ready For Ukraine Peace Talks

Post by : Shakul

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that Russia remains ready for peace talks with Ukraine, while insisting that any future negotiations should be based on agreements discussed during talks held in Istanbul in 2022.

Ukraine Strikes Hit Russian Infrastructure

Putin's comments come after a series of Ukrainian drone attacks targeting Russian oil infrastructure. According to reports, strikes on oil refineries have increased significantly since the beginning of 2026, affecting fuel production and supply.

Fuel Shortages Reported

Several regions across Russia have reported fuel shortages, long queues at petrol stations and rising fuel prices. The situation has raised concerns among consumers and businesses as authorities work to stabilize supplies.

Moscow Blames Ukraine

The Russian leader accused Ukraine of targeting civilian infrastructure in an attempt to create uncertainty and disrupt daily life. Putin claimed the attacks were designed to weaken public confidence and create instability within Russia.

Government Considers New Measures

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said authorities are considering additional measures to protect domestic fuel supplies. These include possible restrictions on diesel exports and adjustments to energy policies.

Economic Impact Emerging

The fuel disruptions have also affected financial markets. Reports indicate that the Russian rouble weakened while stock markets faced pressure as concerns grew over fuel availability and the impact of continued attacks on energy facilities.

Conflict And Diplomacy Continue

Despite renewed discussion of possible peace talks, major differences remain between Moscow and Kyiv over territorial issues and security concerns. The conflict continues as both sides pursue military and diplomatic strategies aimed at strengthening their positions.
