Qatar has underscored the significance of dialogue as a powerful tool for fostering social unity and addressing divides influenced by religion, identity, and culture.
During a high-level conference on religious coexistence in Nicosia, Cyprus, Dr. Ibrahim Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID), articulated that creating strong and cohesive societies extends beyond mere regulations and government initiatives.
Dr. Al Nuaimi highlighted that the foundation of cohesive communities relies on cultivating a culture of dialogue, building mutual trust, and bolstering support for educational, religious, and community institutions.
He pointed out Qatar's commitment to promoting interfaith and intercultural dialogue through initiatives led by the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, which encompasses conferences, seminars, research initiatives, and global partnerships aimed at enhancing cooperation across various cultures and faiths.
According to Dr. Al Nuaimi, such initiatives are crucial for reinforcing the idea of shared citizenship, fostering peaceful coexistence, and viewing diversity as a vital contributor to cultural enrichment and human development.
He cautioned that the increasing issues of hate speech, extremism, and social fragmentation demand close collaboration among governments, civil society organizations, and religious and educational leaders.
