Saudi Arabia Pioneers Responsible AI Framework at WSIS Forum

At the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum, Saudi Arabia showcased its endeavors in establishing a holistic national artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem. The Kingdom's presentation focused on how it balances responsible governance with practical implementations of AI technology across vital sectors.

Leading the discussion was the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), alongside representatives from the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the International Center for AI Research and Ethics (ICAIRE), and Prince Sultan University.

Commitment to Responsible AI Development

During the event, officials from Saudi Arabia articulated the support provided by national organizations to enhance the AI ecosystem. Key activities involve reinforcing governance and ethical standards, developing robust computing infrastructure, promoting research and innovation, and cultivating national expertise in artificial intelligence.

These collective actions aim to position Saudi Arabia as an exemplar of responsible and accessible AI development on a global scale.

AI Integration in Major Sectors

The Saudi delegation elaborated on how AI is being deployed in critical domains such as government, healthcare, and media.

Emphasizing the creation of a cohesive AI ecosystem, officials highlighted the significance of fostering technological advancement while upholding trust, transparency, and inclusivity. They also acknowledged that AI initiatives should resonate with local cultural values and priorities.

Emphasis on International Collaboration

This panel discussion is part of Saudi Arabia's comprehensive strategy to enhance international collaboration, promote knowledge sharing, and adopt best practices for a sustainable digital future.

Participants engaged in exploring lessons from Saudi Arabia's journey toward responsible AI expansion and identified avenues to boost international partnerships in AI governance, investment, and infrastructure innovation, ensuring shared benefits from successful national AI models.
