Abu Dhabi Welcomes Senior Citizens for the 2026 Masters Games

Abu Dhabi Welcomes Senior Citizens for the 2026 Masters Games

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Abu Dhabi is gearing up for a significant event as the Open Masters Games 2026 announces the participation of 1,000 senior citizens, facilitated by the Family Development Foundation in collaboration with Barakat Al Dar Social Clubs. This noteworthy update was shared during the 8th Forum for Senior Citizens, coinciding with the International Day of Older Persons.

This initiative showcases a commitment to active ageing and community interaction, in line with the Masters Games’ inclusive vision aimed at individuals from diverse backgrounds. Open to participants starting from age 30, and with swimming events kicking off at age 25, this event imposes no skill level restrictions, encouraging everyone to participate in lifelong sports.

The Family Development Foundation’s role is to enhance opportunities for older adults, allowing them to immerse themselves in an international sporting environment while promoting well-being, fitness, and social connectivity. Barakat Al Dar Social Clubs will play a vital part in guiding and motivating senior participants to participate confidently in the Games.

Slated for 6 to 15 February 2026, the Open Masters Games Abu Dhabi 2026 will be the largest multi-sport event ever hosted in the Middle East, anticipating over 25,000 athletes competing in more than 30 sports, including six traditional sports that celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the UAE.

Through its inclusive framework and extensive sports offerings, the Abu Dhabi Masters Games aims to foster community connections, enhance social well-being, and solidify the city’s reputation as a premier global sporting hub.
