On Tuesday morning, the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) convened at the Ruler's Office, directed by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, who also chairs the SEC.

His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Vice Chairman of the SEC joined the meeting.

In their discussions, Council members evaluated essential government initiatives and development projects designed to boost public welfare while ensuring swift and efficient services through an integrated governmental framework.

Assessing Cybersecurity Advancements

The Council reviewed the strides made by the Sharjah Cyber Security Centre (SCSC), which has been focused on establishing a robust and cohesive cybersecurity ecosystem across the emirate. The center's work involves enhancing cybersecurity awareness, cultivating human resources, and fortifying the overall information security architecture.

SCSC has rolled out pivotal initiatives such as frameworks for managing cybersecurity incidents, safeguarding operational technology, information security governance, modern risk management practices, and swift response plans. Their work also includes conducting vulnerability assessments, evaluating government web portals, pursuing four developmental avenues, and hosting over 20 technical workshops. Notably, more than 175 government staff members have received training in essential cybersecurity competencies.

Endorsement of Cybersecurity Strategy 2026–2031

The SEC ratified the Sharjah Cybersecurity Strategy (2026–2031), aimed at nurturing a secure digital landscape throughout the emirate. This initiative targets enhancing institutional cybersecurity capabilities and embedding security into governmental functions.

Council members lauded the Sharjah Cyber Security Centre's efforts, reiterating the necessity for collaborative coordination among all governmental bodies to realize the objectives of this new strategic plan and to embrace global industry standards.
