In a significant gathering at Al Majaz Amphitheatre, the Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council led a meeting focused on the review of media organizations' performance, alongside strategies for fortifying the emirate's media landscape.
Key topics included assessing the effectiveness of media institutions and aligning upcoming plans with the council's endorsed strategy aimed at fostering comprehensive media growth in Sharjah.
The Chairman commended the vital contributions of media organizations in response to recent regional events, noting their transparency, adherence to strategic goals, and adaptability to rapid changes. These efforts emphasize professionalism, reliability, and vital contributions to public awareness and trust in credible information.
Celebrating the achievements of the past year, he remarked on the strategic performance of media entities that have bolstered the sector’s position, enhancing coordination among organizations to support continual advancement and excellence.
The council reviewed performance metrics for 2025, revealing an average performance rate of 95% among media entities, indicative of high effectiveness, collaborative effort, and a solid commitment to fulfilling strategic objectives and elevating institutional standards.
A report was presented covering the first quarter for the Sharjah Media Council, including updates on media services such as filming permits, commercial licenses, strategic partnerships, and ongoing media initiatives.
The council also examined the performance of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority during the initial quarter of 2026, which indicated significant growth in both local and regional viewership. Notably, the “Maraya” platform achieved over 10 million app visits, showcasing the quality and reach of its offerings.
Another highlight was the introduction of an AI-driven media platform by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, designed to enhance content creation, analysis, and monitoring efficiency. It boasts features like a smart archive and quick search, aiming to decrease content preparation time by 40% and streamline access to media materials by 70%.
Updates regarding developments in Sharjah Media City (Shams) were also shared, including the completion of the design phase for Shams Studios, which will consist of five production studios and comprehensive creative facilities. The council further reviewed the advancement of business licenses, the performance of the Shams Business Center, and the successful second edition of the Shams Award for Arabic Content, which attracted 1,210 participants from the Arab region.
This meeting was attended by senior officials and media executives from various Sharjah media institutions, underscoring a unified effort to propel the emirate’s media sector forward.
