50 Evacuated After Fire in Singapore HDB Flat

50 Evacuated After Fire in Singapore HDB Flat

Post by : Shakul

Around 50 residents were evacuated after a fire broke out in a Housing Development Board (HDB) flat in Yishun, Singapore, in the early hours of April 13. The incident prompted a swift response from emergency services and raised concerns about residential safety.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to the fire at around 3 am at a second-floor unit in Block 510B, Yishun Street 51. By the time firefighters arrived, the blaze had already been extinguished by members of the public using a hose reel and fire extinguisher.

Authorities confirmed that about 50 residents were evacuated from the building as a precautionary measure. Police and SCDF personnel ensured that the situation was brought under control and no further risk remained.

One person was taken to Singapore General Hospital for treatment. Officials stated that the individual received medical care, though further details about the condition were not disclosed.

Local Member of Parliament Lee Hui Ying praised the bravery of residents who helped in the rescue. She identified two individuals, Furzan and Razmi, along with Razmi’s brother, who assisted in saving a person from the affected unit.

Authorities expressed appreciation for the quick actions of the public, noting that such efforts helped prevent the situation from escalating. The SCDF also stated that it would recognise those involved for their public-spirited actions.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are currently ongoing, as officials continue to assess the circumstances surrounding the incident.
