Thai Helps Thai Plus Drives Strong Consumer Spending

Thai Helps Thai Plus Drives Strong Consumer Spending

Post by : Shakul

Thailand's economic stimulus initiative, the Thai Helps Thai Plus 60/40 program, continues to generate strong momentum across the country, with total spending surpassing 6.2 billion baht within days of its launch. Government officials say the program is helping accelerate economic activity while increasing purchasing power among consumers.

According to information released by Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Periswiwatana, the program has received widespread support from both citizens and businesses since it opened for public participation on June 1. Authorities view the positive response as evidence that the measure is effectively stimulating grassroots economic activity.

Data from Thailand’s Fiscal Policy Office showed that more than 26 million people had successfully registered and received benefits under the initiative by June 3. Of those participants, more than 16.5 million had already used their allocated benefits, resulting in significant spending throughout the national economy.

Total expenditures under the scheme reached approximately 6.21 billion baht. Government contributions accounted for 3.61 billion baht, while citizens contributed around 2.60 billion baht from their own spending. Officials believe this combination is helping increase economic circulation and expand commercial activity in local communities across the country.

The program has also attracted strong participation from the business sector. More than 951,000 merchants have already registered and are ready to accept payments through the initiative. The majority are existing businesses, while nearly 100,000 new merchants have joined the platform, creating additional opportunities for commercial growth and consumer engagement.

More than 829,000 businesses have already recorded transactions through the program. Small retailers, community stores, local vendors, and neighborhood enterprises are among the primary beneficiaries, with many reporting increased customer traffic and stronger sales since the program's launch.

Thai officials say the early results demonstrate growing public confidence in government economic measures. Authorities will continue monitoring the program closely to ensure that it contributes effectively to economic recovery, strengthens household purchasing power, supports small businesses, and promotes sustainable growth throughout Thailand's local economies.
