President Donald Trump has confirmed that he was discreetly relocated to a different aircraft by American security officials following the NATO summit in Turkey last month due to a possible Iran-related threat.
According to Trump, the US Secret Service and military made the decision. He noted he did not inquire for detailed specifics about the threat.
This revelation comes in the wake of reports indicating that Trump was secretly transferred from his official presidential aircraft to a smaller military jet at Ankara airport after the summit.
On July 8, 2026, Trump seemed to board the recognizable Air Force One post-summit in Ankara. However, it was reportedly a decoy while the president was switched to another plane.
Previous information from US officials to CBS News indicated that intelligence agencies had identified a legitimate Iranian threat, which included the risk of a missile attack targeting the presidential plane.
This security operation took place without public acknowledgment of Trump’s aircraft change at that time.
Sources revealed that Trump was transported through Ankara airport inside a catering truck, a tactic aimed at keeping the operation discreet.
Photographs from the airport indicated catering trucks positioned close to Air Force One as Trump’s motorcade arrived on the tarmac for their departure post-NATO summit.
This transfer allowed Air Force One to maintain the appearance of being the plane Trump utilized while he was covertly taken to a smaller military jet.
Trump has confirmed that the decision to transfer him to another aircraft was made by security officials, including both the Secret Service and the military.
He stated that he did not request any detailed information regarding the threat, leaving specific intelligence regarding the security measures undisclosed.
