Turkey has officially dismissed social media claims suggesting that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was involved in illegal espionage activities in Istanbul. The Turkish Attorney General described these allegations as “categorically false,” emphasizing that there is no evidence linking the UAE or its citizens to any suspicious conduct.
The clarification came after a conversation between the UAE Attorney General and his Turkish counterpart on Thursday. According to the UAE statement, the Turkish official reviewed the information in coordination with Istanbul’s prosecution office and confirmed that there were no unlawful activities or investigations implicating the UAE. The Turkish Public Prosecution instructed authorities to remove all media and social media posts that were spreading these unverified claims.
In response, the UAE Attorney General welcomed the Turkish Justice Minister’s statement, which also denied any involvement of the UAE in the ongoing investigations in Istanbul. The UAE official highlighted that Turkey’s prompt response underlines the country’s commitment to transparency and its dedication to preventing the circulation of false information.
During the discussions, both Turkish and UAE officials also emphasized the importance of strengthening judicial cooperation and improving communication channels between their authorities. This incident demonstrates the efforts by both nations to maintain clarity, uphold trust, and ensure accurate reporting while avoiding the spread of misinformation.
This development reinforces the strong diplomatic and legal ties between Turkey and the UAE, showing both countries’ focus on cooperation and the importance of addressing misinformation in the digital age.
