UAE Celebrates Education Day Reinforcing Learning as National Priority

UAE Celebrates Education Day Reinforcing Learning as National Priority

Post by : Shakul

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates — The UAE today marks its annual Education Day, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to learning, human capital development and forward‑looking education reforms. The occasion underscores the central role education plays in national progress and sustainable development.

Observed every 28 February, Emirati Day for Education commemorates the graduation of the first cohort of teachers from the United Arab Emirates University in 1982 — an event attended by the late Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The date was later designated by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to recognise the foundational role education has played in the growth of the UAE.

Focus on Reform, AI and Future Skills

This year’s celebration highlights the integration of Artificial Intelligence as a mandatory subject from kindergarten through Grade 12, positioning the UAE among global leaders in tech‑driven schooling. Structural reforms have modernised curricula, removed centralised second‑semester exams, and introduced advanced learning streams to better align education with future labour market needs.

The Zayed Education Foundation aims to empower 100,000 young talents by 2035 through research and innovation support, while government scholarship programmes in AI and public policy further boost educational opportunities.

National Engagement and Legacy

The Education, Human Development and Community Development Council unveiled the official visual identity for this year’s celebration, engaging schools, families and communities across the UAE. The platform reflects the country’s educational legacy and future ambitions, emphasising the role of education as a driver of sustainable development.

With more than 1 million students enrolled and over 23,000 educators trained in advanced AI tools, the UAE continues to invest heavily in education aimed at preparing future generations for success in a rapidly evolving world.
