H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah, graced the Commemoration Day ceremony at Wahat Al Karama in Abu Dhabi. He was joined by H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes Affairs. This solemn event celebrated the courage and sacrifice of the UAE's heroes who laid down their lives for the nation.
During the observance, Sheikh Hamad honored the fallen by laying a wreath at the monument and bestowing the Martyr’s Medal upon four families who have lost loved ones in service to the UAE. The ceremony underscored the commitment of the nation to remember and celebrate its heroes.
A highlight of the tribute included an aerial display by fighter jets, forming the image of the Unknown Soldier, symbolizing the unwavering spirit and dedication of the UAE’s deceased heroes. This remarkable show left a lasting impression on the attendees, serving as a touching reminder of their sacrifices.
Prominent UAE leaders attended the event, including H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah; H.H. Lt General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister; H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and H.H. Sheikh Omar bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Their presence reflected a unified front in honoring the nation’s heroes.
Additional dignitaries included Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence; Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State; Major General Staff Sheikh Ahmed bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Deputy Armed Forces Chief; and Khalifa bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, UAE Ambassador to Jordan.
The event also saw the attendance of martyr families, high-ranking officials, military personnel, diplomats, and distinguished guests, fostering an atmosphere of respect and national pride. The ceremony showcased the UAE’s unwavering dedication to honoring its heroes and extending support to their families.
Wahat Al Karama stands as a national monument dedicated to fallen heroes. The Commemoration Day reinforced values of bravery, patriotism, and unity. Through wreath-laying, medal presentations, and ceremonial tributes, UAE leaders reaffirmed that the sacrifices of martyrs will be forever remembered. This event serves to bolster national identity and pride throughout the country.
