Thailand’s mixed doubles team, Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran, displayed remarkable determination and skill to claim their eighth career title and their first triumph of 2026 at the Yonex-Sunrise India Open. The exciting final, held in India on January 18, saw the Thai pair overcome Denmark’s Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje in a thrilling three-set encounter, finishing 16–21, 25–23, 21–18.
Currently ranked world No. 4 and seeded third, Dechapol and Supissara reached the final after a stunning semi-final win over the top-ranked Chinese duo Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping. Their opponents, the confident Danish pair ranked No. 12, had earlier created an upset by defeating the world No. 2 Chinese team Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin to secure their place in the final.
The championship clash was a fast-paced, closely contested battle. Despite the Thai duo holding a late lead at 19–16 in the first game, the Danes rallied to take it 21–16. Refusing to give up, Dechapol and Supissara saved four match points in the second game and edged out a tense 25–23 victory in a dramatic deuce, leveling the match.
The final game remained fiercely competitive, but the Thai pair seized the decisive moments, eventually closing the match with a 21–18 win. This victory not only marks their first title of the year but also extends their impressive record on the BWF World Tour to eight career championships, cementing their reputation as one of the premier mixed doubles teams in the world.
With this win, Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran have set a strong tone for the rest of 2026, showcasing the grit and determination that define true champions.
