Ukrainian Drones Target Oil Facilities in Ufa and Krasnodar

Ukrainian Drones Target Oil Facilities in Ufa and Krasnodar

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Ukrainian long-range drones have successfully targeted two significant oil refineries in Ufa and an oil depot in Krasnodar, as reported by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Zelenskyy Details Coordinated Strikes

According to Zelenskyy, the Ukrainian Armed Forces executed an effective attack on the Poltavska oil depot, situated about 300 kilometers (186 miles) from the frontlines of combat.

Simultaneously, he noted that Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) struck two oil refineries in Ufa, roughly 1,400 kilometers (870 miles) from Ukraine's borders.

Zelenskyy emphasized that these long-range operations are a direct retaliation against Russian hostilities aimed at compelling Moscow to genuinely engage in negotiations to conclude the conflict.

Krasnodar's Oil Depot Sustains Damage

Zelenskyy reported that the strike on the Poltavska oil depot, a key fuel supply facility for Krasnodar and Adygea, resulted in a fire, damaging three out of 28 storage tanks. Ukrainian authorities indicated at least one of the tanks housed fuel, prompting a temporary halt to traffic on a nearby road.

Assault on Ufa Refineries

In Ufa, the operation focused on two refineries—Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim and Bashneft-Novoil—both owned by Bashneft, a branch of state-run Rosneft.

Footage of Drones in Action

Videos released via ASTRA, an independent Russian news Telegram channel, reportedly depict drones over Ufa. Ukrainian defense media Militarnyi suggests these resemble the domestically manufactured "Liutyi" drones, commonly utilized for deep-strike missions against Russian energy facilities.

Bashkortostan Leader Comments on the Attack

Radiy Khabirov, the head of Bashkortostan, reported that Russian air defenses managed to fend off the attack. "Debris from the drones fell in the industrial area with no injuries reported, and operations continued normally," he stated.

Earlier Assault on Bashneft-Novoil

This recent incursion follows a prior drone strike on the Bashneft-Novoil refinery on April 2, which ignited a significant fire at its CDU-5 distillation unit, responsible for about 28% of the refinery's processing capacity.
