A massive fire broke out early this morning in Lhoksukon District after a sudden gas eruption occurred during drilling operations at a well site in Gampong Blang Rubek. The powerful blaze sent flames shooting high into the sky, creating panic among nearby residents and forcing emergency evacuations in surrounding neighborhoods.
According to local authorities, the incident happened when a surge of underground gas ignited unexpectedly during drilling activities. Witnesses described seeing towering flames and thick smoke spreading across the area moments after the eruption occurred.
Emergency response teams, firefighters and local officials quickly rushed to the site to contain the fire and secure the affected zone. Authorities immediately evacuated nearby homes as a precaution to protect residents from possible explosions and toxic smoke exposure.
Officials stated that rescue crews are continuing efforts to stabilize the well area and prevent the fire from spreading further. Heavy equipment and additional emergency personnel were also deployed to assist with containment operations.
Residents living close to the drilling site reported hearing loud roaring sounds followed by intense heat from the flames. Videos and images circulating on social media showed dramatic scenes of fire lighting up the morning sky across parts of North Aceh.
