Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that it fired four ballistic missiles at the U.S. aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Gulf of Oman in retaliation for recent U.S. and Israeli military operations, including airstrikes that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader and other senior officials. The Guard said the missiles were aimed at the carrier as part of its expanding offensive against American forces in the region.
According to the IRGC’s state‑run statement, the operation was described as part of a broader campaign against what Tehran calls “terrorist aggressors,” asserting that the carrier was struck by the ballistic missiles and warning that “land and sea will increasingly become the graveyard of those enemies.”
However, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) and the Pentagon have firmly rejected Iran’s claims, stating that the USS Abraham Lincoln was not hit, and that the missiles “didn’t even come close” to the carrier. CENTCOM added that the strike group continues to operate and launch aircraft in support of ongoing operations.
The conflicting narratives come amid one of the most intense regional escalations in recent history, involving airstrikes, missile barrages and military engagements among Iran, the United States, Israel and other regional actors. The situation remains highly fluid, with global attention focused on further developments in the Middle East.
